About Amanda

Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m proud to be a Librarian. I’m even prouder to be associated with the fantastic Career Development Group, an organisation of some 4000 library & information professionals. As President of the group from April - December 2008, I will be blogging myself hoarse.

How exciting - do I get to be the first person to comment? Strikes me, reading through the colourful collection of comments on life, the universe, and CDG, that you’d make a fantastic public librarian! Can you get any better than helping children to make killer bugs out of card and felt (”How do you spell ‘terminator’?” asked one verbally-challenged seven year old.) Honestlty, kids are the funniest things ever. “What’s the difference,” I once asked a class, “between this central library and the mobile library you visited last week?” A brief silence. “This one hasn’t got wheels.” Genius. Seriously though, great blog, and great publicity for the wonderful world of CDG!
